Lea County Shows Its Caring Side Once Again
Caring. It really is the Lea County way. The United Way of Lea County in conjunction with KZOR, KIXN, KPZA and KLMA radio stations, the Hobbs High School basketball team, the Lovington Key Club and the Highland Junior High National Junior Honor Society raised a grand total of $22,491 for the United Way of America’s Katrina Response Fund in a one-day event on Friday, September 9th.
Lea County citizens responded to the plight of Katrina’s victims by dropping money in cans at Wal Mart, the Hobbs High School football game, the Lovington High School football game and at Hastings Entertainment.
The money raised will go to the United Way of America to be dispersed among the United Ways in the affected areas to go toward immediate and long term needs of the area. Checks written to the American Red Cross will be delivered to the local chapter.
Once again, Lea County the generosity of the citizens of Lea County was abundant when asked to help their neighbors in need. Thank You, Lea County.
